BBC News Labs is an experimental part of the BBC that explores new and exciting ways to broadcast to the world.
I've worked on several projects in a UX and Design role creating prototypes, user interfaces and brand identities. Each project ran in fast paced design sprints in an agile way usually lasting 2-3 weeks.
ACCELERATED MOBILE PAGES
AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) are big in Russia as more users demand faster loading pages. I initially designed a set of templates and UI to help tell stories in a quick and engaging way that would cope with long Russian words. This then got expanded to include an English version for BBC News, rolled out just in time to celebrate the marriage of Harry and Meghan.
BBC News Mixer is a new interface that explores how a user might change how they consume news content depending on their often changing environment. The user interface seamlessly switches between video, audio to text. I storyboarded, prototyped the user experience and designed the brand identity.
BBC News Labs are big on the tech scene but had a poorly designed website with difficult to use logo. I created a new brand identity, user guidelines and designed a responsive website which includes a toolkit of graphic devices to keep the site fresh and modern.
